Randy Ellingson
As a dedicated teacher, capable administrator and tireless advocate for his profession, Randy Ellingson has been at the forefront of massage therapy’s development in Canada. Through a lifelong dedication to science-based learning and applied teaching, Ellingson has helped launch the careers of hundreds of massage professionals and contributed to the growth of a vibrant industry.
Since the early 1980s, Ellingson’s thirst for knowledge and desire to advance the field of massage has led him on a journey of distinguished achievement. In 1987, Ellingson took on a teaching role at a time when training manuals were few and far between. His dedication to the art and science of massage spurred him to develop a curriculum that became the educational foundation of his Winnipeg-based school, Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies.
Throughout the years, Ellingson has served on many influential boards, including the Canadian Branch of the London and Counties Society of Physiologists (LCSP), the National Association of Career Colleges and the Canadian Council of Massage Therapy. His dedication to his life’s work also earned him a Fellowship in 1990 from the International Council of the LCSP.
Ellingson credits his success and well-being to a balanced life of family and friends. He lives in Winnipeg with his wife, Barbara, and shares his happiness with his three children, Brie-anne, Jared, Nicole, and her husband, Curt, and Randy’s first grandson, Hayden.
Ellingson attributes his career accomplishments to the strong friendships he has forged with business partner Wayne Baiton, industry developers Abe Reimer and Don Bennett and Ken Woodward, Principal of England’s Northern College of Physical Therapies. Together, Ellingson, his family, friends and students have built a solid foundation for the future of massage in Canada.
