Canadian Massage Conference a big success!
Nov. 8, Simcoe, Ont. – The 2010 Canadian Massage Conference saw a large and varied assembly of RMTs and students gathered for three days of informative presentations and workshops mixed with enjoyable social and networking events.

The conference was held in Burlington, Ontario from November 5-7. RMTs enjoyed an impressive roster of speakers who presented topics ranging from assessment and technique systems to regulatory issues to integration of massage into a variety of clinical presentations such carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches and post-surgical care of mastectomy/breast implant patients. Technologies such as laser therapy and kinesiotaping were also featured, as were specialty massage areas such as chair massage, thai stem herbal massage and aromatherapy.

An extensive trade show allowed RMTs to learn about a variety of products and services for massage therapists, and their practices, from experts dedicated to serving the profession.

Free admission was available for students on Sunday, November 7, giving many the opportunity to benefit from the academic program as well as the practice management tips and insights afforded through the trade show.

Opportunities for networking abounded, including a number of relaxing social events meant to complement the well-structured programming of the conference. As well, draws for a number of beneficial products were carried out through the weekend and a media center was open, at all times, to create promotional videos for businesses, clinics and individual therapists.

A new and welcome addition to this year’s conference was The Sanctuary, a retreat area where delegates could receive a 10-minute massage for $10. The Sanctuary was staffed entirely by volunteers and all proceeds were donated to the Massage Therapy Foundation, a group that advances the knowledge and practice of massage therapy by supporting scientific research, education and community service.

Congratulations to organizers Lorna Pasinato, Scott Dartnall, Monica Forchielli and Robyn Green for creating an exceptional educational and networking experience.

In 2011, this Canadian event is planned for November 4-6, again at the Holiday Inn in Burlington, Ontario. For more information, including registration details, please visit www.canadianmassageconference.com
