MTAM Merit Award Winner
May 16, Winnipeg, MB – Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba (MTAM) past president, Sue Zwarich RMT received the 'Merit Award' from current president, Susan Kos-Whicher, BA, RMT at the recent 39th Annual Meeting held at the Victoria Inn, Winnipeg on Friday, May 4th.

Zwarich was recognized for her contributions to the MTAM and the profession during her term of office as a Director and President of the association. She served from 2005 - 2011 in many capacities.

According to Kos-Whicher, “Sue graduated from nursing in 1993, specializing in Geriatric and Orthopedic medical care. In 1997 she began her training in massage therapy specializing in sports massage rehabilitation. As a massage therapist she became a graduate of the Dr. Vodder School, receiving full certification in the treatment and management of lymphedema.

“Sue is involved with the establishment and promotion of the newly developed Lymphedema Association of Manitoba (LAM). She recognizes the need for this health service in the community and will focus her attention on the unmet needs of this disease within the provincial health care system.

“She has been a relentless advocate for legislation and regulation of the profession knowing there remains lots of planning and implementation before the final goal is reached. Sue is the chair of the legislative committee, and has provided critical focus to the application process now underway. She will continue to assist in the legislative process, and I am sure she will be a player in the future regulatory college structure too.”

Massage Therapy Canada wishes to congratulate Sue Zwarich and to wish her well in her future endeavours.
