Alberta massage school arms students with hi-tech gadgets
One massage therapy school in Alberta is taking advantage of new technologies to optimize learning for its students.
MaKami College, which has campuses in Edmonton and Calgary, offers its students the latest in tablet technology – the iPad Air – to enhance their learning experience.
"We have been providing our students iPads for courses and translation
services since the launch of the first generation iPad in 2010," says
Marija Pavkovic, managing director of MaKami College. "We were one of
the first schools in Alberta to do this and we’ve found it’s a very
effective and innovative learning tool."
Upon registration, each
MaKami student receives an iPad Air pre-loaded with not just all courses
but interactive programs for hands-on training and translation services
for those who struggle with English.
"Students can open up parts
of the human body for example, to get a better view of what they’re
learning, and that’s very effective," says Pavkovic. "Many of our
students are also newcomers to Canada or immigrants, so we have various
specialized apps to help them translate their textbooks so they can
learn in their native language."
