International acupuncture conference in Toronto

This
event is organized by the Canadian Contemporary Acupuncture Association (CCAA),
a unique professional, interdisciplinary association that is devoted to the
dissemination of the very successful contemporary neurofunctional model for
acupuncture as taught at the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program.

The
meeting, titled “Contemporary Acupuncture Integration into Today’s Health
Care”, will bring together the world’s experts in the research and developing practices
that have been seminal in establishing an effective and safe neurofunctional
acupuncture model.

The objectives of the conference are to apply the most effective
strategies for integrating contemporary acupuncture into clinical practice
based on up-to-date research and personal clinical experience.

Participation
of prominent educators and proponents of the neurofunctional acupuncture model
has already been secured with names such as Dr. Thomas Lundeberg from Sweden,
Dr. Mike Cummings from England, and Dr. Claudio Couto from Brazil. Canadian
experts will include Dr. Elorriaga, Dr. Ohson, Dr. Fargas-Babjak, a list of
chiropractors including Dr. Mike Prebeg and Dr. David Salanki, and RMT, Chris
O’Connor.

Some of
these presenters’ bios are as follows: 

Thomas
Lundeberg, MD, PhD – Dr. Lundeberg is a researcher at the Department of
Physiology II, Karolinska Institute Stockholm, Sweden;

Cláudio
Couto, MD, Msc – Dr. Couto is the Percutaneous Peripheral Neuromodulation
in Rehabilitation Coordinator of the Pain Clinic in Porto Alegre RS, Brazil ,
Director of the Research Group in Neurofunctional Acupuncture of Porto Alegre
(GEANF) and a member of the Research Group in Pain and Neuromodulation,
HCPA/UFRGS;

Alejandro
Elorriaga Claraco, MD – Dr. Elorriaga is a Sports Medicine Specialist from
Spain who is currently Program Director and Senior Lecturer at the McMaster
Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program, as well as an Assistant Clinical
Professor in the Department of Anesthesia at McMaster University;

David G.
Salanki, DC – Dr. Salanki is a chiropractor and Chief Instructor and Senior
Lecturer for the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster
University.

The target audience for the event includes, but is not limited
to, RMTs, MDs, DCs, DOs, NDs, licensed acupuncturists, PTs, athletic
therapists, RNs and OTs.

This
exciting event will see the culmination of almost a decade and a half of work
by the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program devoted to the
expansion and integration of a 100 per cent neurofunctional acupuncture model.
