Massage in Schools Canadian training dates, 2012
April 20, Montreal, QC – The Massage in Schools Program (MISP) announces training sessions that will be available across Canada in various locations in 2012.
April 30, 2012 By Massage Therapy Canada
MISP is a unique, child-centered massage program that’s helping children all over the globe. With a mission to provide high quality and professional training to all teachers and caring adults willing to bring nurturing touch into schools, and a vision to ensure that every child attending school experiences positive and nurturing touch every day, MISP strives to provide children with daily simple nurturing touch routines to lower their stress levels, increasing their chance for better concentration at school and better sleep at home.
MISP was officially founded in the year 2000 by Mia Elmsäter from Sweden and Sylvie Hétu from Canada. Both believe in the contagious effect of a credible, well-structured yet simple program. It is with this spirit that they combined their experiences in massage therapy and education to create MISP.
The MISP two-day intensive course for instructors is a very complete course with an internationally approved curriculum shared by all MISP Trainers. This includes learning the unique MISP massage routine, child development, scientific knowledge, as well as the basis for bringing the idea of touch and movement for learning into all schools subjects.
With the two-day course every instructor receives a very comprehensive workbook that becomes a basic tool for the successful implementation of the program. Once the course has been completed successfully, the participant is given the MISP Instructor Certificate, allowing the implementation of the MISP program within classrooms in the presence of children, and within communities with children and their parents.
Remaining Canadian training dates are:
May 5 – Quebec City, Quebec;
May 26 – Montreal, Quebec;
June 2 – Gatineau, Quebec;
August 25 – Vancouver, BC.
