The journal, now open for article submissions, is the sixth journal of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Inc. portfolio that already includes its chief journal, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, as well as JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques, JBJS Case Connecter, JBJS Reviews, and JBJS Journal of Orthopaedics for Physician Assistants.

JBJS Open Access is an international, peer-reviewed, online-only journal that will publish basic-science and clinical findings as well as new research approaches that have the potential of impacting musculoskeletal disease and injury care worldwide. As an open access publication, all articles published in the journal are available for anyone across the world to read free of charge.

“With the launch of JBJS Open Access, Wolters Kluwer remains focused on expanding the premier reputation and influence JBJS demonstrates within the orthopaedics specialty,” said Jayne Marks, vice-president, global publishing for Wolters Kluwer, Health Learning, Research & Practice.

An independent, non-profit publisher, JBJS produces print and online journals and learning products. The flagship journal, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, traces its origins back to the 1889 Transactions of the American Orthopedic Association, and is the gold standard in peer-reviewed scientific information in orthopaedics. JBJS Inc. is also an accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME) and produces online CME activities.
