This year’s AGM and conference will be hosted by the Ontario Chapter of the CSMTA and will be held at the Holiday Inn and Suites in downtown Ottawa.

The headlining speaker for this year’s conference is Dr. Stu McGill of the University of Waterloo. His work on low back dysfunction is world-renowned. He will be presenting a one-day workshop that will take participants through the myths and truths of low back pain, assessment and therapeutic exercise for the full spectrum of clients from the average person with back pain to elite athletes.Taking up Stu McGill’s myth busting theme, the focus of the conference will be to break down old information and claims and present peer reviewed, science-based information. In particular, Doug Stacey, a physiotherapist with Hockey Canada, will present his analysis about the use of massage therapy, hydrotherapy, nutrition and hydration for post training recovery.

On the second day of the conference, Doug Alexander, RMT, will present a full day workshop on lower body nerve mobilization. Doug is well known locally and nationally for his passionate and insightful work as an educator and writer. He is currently a professor at the Massage Therapy Program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, editor-in- chief of MassageTherapyPractice.com and he has produced two instructional DVDs for nerve mobilization.

The conference will be a multidisciplinary event with a wide range of experienced and provocative speakers. The CSMTA also extends their appreciation to Kinemedics and Simply Therapy for their generous sponsorship of this event. For more information, including registration details and forms, please visit www.csmta.ca
