The new Sensmi is built with patented, hospital-grade GSR-PRO bio-sensing technology that tracks brainwave activity through galvanic skin response (GSR) and a proprietary algorithm that disperses data that is easily understandable. Sensmi provides users with straightforward results and easy-to-follow instructions on how to confront lifestyle stressors.
The ultra-thin, water-resistant wearable has a long battery life and with its companion iOS and Android app, it accurately measures and effectively manages the users stress levels and reports how daily activities and sleep patterns can affect their mental state. Scientific research has proven that when individuals get excited, nervous or stressed, a burst of signals from the brain fire nerves on their skin that lead to a spontaneous fluctuation of skin conductance, called the galvanic skin response.
Unlike most GSR devices that just collect the raw data and present it directly to the user, Sensmi created GSR-PRO, a sophisticated algorithm that provides biofeedback therapy as well as data to users in a way that's simple to understand, the company said. Currently patented in China and Singapore, GSR-PRO was developed over a three-year period and has undergone a rigorous clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of its technology with brainwave analysis, according to EmoBridge.
The American Medical Association has acknowledged that stress is the root cause of more than 60 per cent of all human illness and disease and the biggest challenge in dealing with stress is recognizing its presence in daily life.
Additionally, Sensmi accurately tracks and records REM sleep data, providing hospital–grade analysis which helps users study their sleep patterns. Sensmi's wrist band uses bio-data to track sleep patterns and utilizes "big data" results to provide their users with advice on achieving a better night's sleep, the company said. The device also identifies the reasons leading to poor sleep quality, such as experiencing high stress levels throughout the day or a sudden stressful moment right before sleep.
