CSMTA 2010 conference – opening doors for RMTs

Oct. 26, Edmonton, AB – The Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association (CSMTA) annual conference, held in Edmonton Alberta from Oct 22-24, was defined by topics that extended beyond the walls of the massage therapy clinic to redefine the RMT’s role in the broader spectrum of the health care system.

Although the themes covered by the event’s informative and
experienced speakers encompassed a variety of techniques through didactic and
hands-on workshops, the broader message had more to do with the far-reaching
potential that massage therapy can have in the lives and careers of a variety
of athletes, as well as in the well-being and health care of the general
public.

The CSMTA 2010 Conference Banquet, held on the Saturday night,
featured well-known, award-winning athletes from a wide range of sports
disciplines, all of whom spoke of the benefits they had gleaned from working
with a massage therapist throughout their careers.

The organizing committee for the event, headed by Kip Petch,
more than succeeded in their endeavour to provide attendees an
interdisciplinary, well-rounded learning experience – they also furnished an
opportunity for RMTs to network with colleagues while attaining practical
skills for use in their clinics.
