Edmonton hosts 2015 sports massage conference

The Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association (CSMTA) is hosting this year's National Educational Conference and AGM in Edmonton, Alberta, October 16-18, 2015. There is still time and availability to register for this conference as the Early Registration Deadline has been extended to September 26th!

You do not have to be a member of the CSMTA to participate in the conference and all types of health-care professionals are encouraged to attend. CSMTA conference organizers have arranged an excellent educational experience with several outstanding topics from which to choose. All of the topics are highly relevant to many types of therapists and the skills gained can be put to effective use immediately.

There will be a Sport Medicine Symposium on Friday, October 16th featuring the following topics:
a) Psychology of Concussion with Nicolas Allen, MA, BPE, MES
b) Nutritional Interventions for Recovery in Athletes with Sherry Robertson, RD, ChPC Registered Dietician Chartered Professional Coach
c) Myo-Fascial Decompression with Herb Longworth, RMT, BSc., SMT(CC) CCE

Other longer duration courses include: Sport Taping and Strapping course with Jennifer Dunn, AT(C) Certified Athletic Therapist; Advanced Sport Massage Course with Kip Petch, BPE, RMT, SMT(C) Certified Sport Massage Therapist; Advanced Techniques for Low Back and Hip with Cheryl Stephenson, RMT, MSc., BPE, B.Ed.

The CSMTA will be hosting their Annual General Meeting on the evening of Friday, October 16th followed by a social event.

The Saturday evening Banquet will be another highlight, attracting several athletes and therapists who will speak about the positive impact that massage therapy has had throughout their careers.
