sponsored by SOAP Vault in partnership with Know Your Body Best, the Expo welcomed atttendees into the tradeshow to walk the floor and visit booths from a variety of vendors. Tradeshow-goers were able to take advantage of special offers and prices.
The concurrent seminars offered were underway from beginning to end on both Saturday and Sunday. Attendees were able to sign-up ahead of the event, choosing intimate, interactive seminars like "Dynamic Cupping and Massage," "Dynamic Angular Petrissage," and "Restoring Flexibility and Muscle Tone Gently and Painlessly." While registration for the trade show was free this year, many of the seminars were a small free of $10 to attend. Show special prices were offered within some of these talks. Unique demonstrations like "The Basics of Striking and Self-Defence" had therapists learning how to put power in a few long- and short-range strikes. The premise was to help RMTs feel safer in enclosed spaces with clients – whether in a clinical or a home-based setting.
Unfortunately one industry expert was noticeably absent. With the news of the passing of Chris O'Connor, Dr. Mosen Talani stepped in to present on the "Art of Palpation," and "The Manual of Manual Therapy." O'Connor was a frequent contributor to Massage Therapy Canada and wrote on many topics, including the role of massage therapy on those suffering from addicitions and PTSD.
O'Connor was a successful RMT, public speaker, Osteopathic Practitioner, as well as a provider of medical acupunture. We join the rest of the massage industry in honouring his life.
