When the Ontario Board of Regents first regulated the practice of massage in the province of Ontario in 1919, it was in recognition of massage therapy as a form of health care. Today, nearly a century later, Ontario continues to play a leadership role in propelling the profession further up in the health-care chain.

Lifestyle intervention provides cognitive benefits for people at risk of dementia: study
Positive results presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2014 in Copenhagen include data from a two-year clinical trial in Finland of a multi-component lifestyle intervention, known as the Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability.

Editorial: National accreditation for massage therapy education ramps up
It looks like national accreditation for massage therapy education will be commencing as early as 2015. The newly established Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (MTCFA), currently led by the “founders’ group,” has commenced the work of incorporating the MTCFA under the Not For Profit Corporations Act.
