Nova Scotia 2011 spring conference

The Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS), with support from Lackner McLennan, is pleased to present the Spring Conference and Trade Show 2011 to be held at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax from May 6-8, 2011!

24, Halifax, N.S. – The Massage Therapists Association of Nova Scotia
(MTANS), with support from Lackner McLennan, is pleased to present the
Spring Conference and Trade Show 2011 to be held at Mount Saint Vincent
University in Halifax from May 6-8, 2011!

The conference offers a number of seminars and workshops as well as a trade show featuring products and services to enhance your practice. 


Speakers include: 
Dr Michael Majaess – Dr Majaess will provide a full day lecture/workshop titled The Scanning Examination – Why, When and How. Dr. Michael Majaess has been in practice since 2000 and is an instructor at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH).

Recently, he has started an orthopaedic review seminar series for massage therapists. His workshop will include scanning peripheral joints to aid the therapist in ruling out pathology beyond that of the cervical or lumbar spinal regions or to note areas that may require a more detailed assessment. 


Louise Danieli, RMT – Louise Danieli is a Massage Therapist, a Dr. Vodder Combined Decongestive Therapist and holds a Doctorate of Acupuncture. She was an instructor at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy for seven years and is director and co-founder of the College of Acupuncture and Therapeutics.

Louise will present a workshop titled Introduction to Acupuncture – designed to be a didactic and practical introduction to this therapy – and a lecture titled Breast Health, an introduction to the basic general information about breast health, how it can apply to your practice and how to approach your clients about breast massage. 


Paul Lewis, RMT – Well known massage therapist and instructor Paul Lewis will offer two workshops, Post–surgical treatment of Mastectomy/Implants and Advanced Upper Body Treatment. Lewis is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), Certified Reflexology Healthcare provider, a graduate of Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic in Toronto, Canada and an approved and accredited educational provider with the NCBTMB (USA), FHT (UK), and the CMTO (CANADA). 

Stephanie Allen and Peter Stuart – Stephanie Allen and Peter Stuart will be on-hand to present an Introduction to Awakening the Healer. Drawing from ancient practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yoga and energy medicine you will learn a step-by-step process that you will enhance your effectiveness as a therapist and enrich your practice.

Stephanie studied massage therapy at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta and has extensive training in stress management and psychology from the University of Santa Monica having attained a Masters in Spiritual Psychology program.

Peter Stuart graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Sutton Ontario in 1993. He began extensive Myofascial release training with John F. Barnes in 1998. He has also trained with Kimberly Herkert and Daniel Goodenough with the Way of the Heart in psychology, spirituality and life mission coaching.
