Those who watch the English Premier League may have noted that the Chelsea goalkeeper wears a kind of helmet.

An
Industrial Tribunal did hand down a verdict that former West Bromwich
Albion and England striker, Jeff Astle, suffered Alzheimer’s as the
result of his professional career as a footballer.

Another
striker (Ray Kennedy of Arsenal and Liverpool) developed Young Onset
Parkinson’s Disease although the link has not been proven (rather like
Muhammad Ali).

In
soccer, ball technology has advanced tremendously in the latter half of
the 20th century. In particular, the ball is likely to weigh the same
and behave consistently at the end of the game, as at the beginning, a
saving of probably 1 lb (0.5kg) over older, more natural leather
balls.
