This
statement from the nomination of Garbowski for the award indicates some of the
reasons he was chosen.  “One of the key things that clearly illustrates to
me his qualification for this award is his unique ability to find creative ways
to simplify concepts and truly understand where the students are coming from
when they ask questions. I have seen him repeatedly find new and innovative
ways to revise long‐established teaching principles and concepts in ways that are
far more useful and viable for the students.”

Each
year, AMTA presents this award to an instructor in an AMTA member school who
demonstrates exceptional teaching abilities and commitment to high standards of
education in massage therapy.  The award is officially presented during
the AMTA National Convention.  The award honors the memory of Jerome
Perlinski, an extraordinary educator and much loved leader.
