RMTBC biennial conference focuses on interdisciplinary care

The Registered Massage Therapists Association of B.C. (RMTBC) will be hosting its biennial conference on April 16 to 18 at the Anvil Centre in New Westminster, B.C.

The conference titled, Manual Therapy: An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Science and Practice, will explore and address the science of manual therapy using “safe and effective manipulative and movement therapies with sound science underpinning theoretical constructs,” according to the RMTBC.

Conference participants can expect to increase their understanding of various therapies by learning of the most recent developments in the field from an international roster of renowned speakers and presenters.

“We are extremely proud of the caliber of presentations and personnel that we have been able to secure for this conference,” said conference co-chairs Bodhi Haraldsson and Harriet Hall. “There is a lot of excitement and interest in the topics being offered and we expect registration slots will fill quickly.”

In addition to the two-day conference, delegates are also able to sign up for intensive workshops held on Monday, April 18 that are offered by the keynote speakers.

Keynote speakers and presentations include:

Dr. Eyal Lederman, DO, PhD, London, England – “A Process Approach in Manual Therapy: Beyond the Structural Approach.”

Sandra Hilton, PT, DPT, MS, Chicago, Illinois – “Importance of Assessment and Treatment of Complex Pelvic Pain Disorders in Women and Men.”

Dr. Ravensara S. Travillian, PhD, NA-C, LMP, Seattle, Washington – “Working with Trauma and PTSD Affected Patients in the Clinical Environment.”

Walt Fritz, PT, Buffalo, New York – “Research can Change Your Approach to Assessment and Treatment and Assist Your Evolution as a Health Care Professional.”
