Dec. 11, Coconut Creek, FL – Dec. 5 officially marked the fifteenth anniversary of the publication of Save YourHands! the leading guide to injury prevention and ergonomics for manual therapists.

Like many great ideas, Save Your Hands! was born from necessity in 1995 when Lauriann Greene began promoting self-care and injury prevention to the massage industry after she suffered a massage work-related injury.

An inspired Greene wrote Save Your Hands!, which was the first text to offer comprehensive information on this subject to manual therapists. In 2008, Greene collaborated with Richard W. Goggins, CPE, LMP, on Save Your Hands!

The Complete Guide to Injury Prevention and Ergonomics for Manual Therapists, 2ndEdition. The second edition is updated with the latest proven-effective injury prevention techniques for massage therapists, chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, nurses and other healthcare practitioners who perform hands-on therapy.

Since 1995, Save Your Hands! has sold over 100,000 copies, and is now used as a required textbook for students in manual treatment training programs and schools worldwide.

Co-authors Lauriann Greene and Richard W. Goggins explain: “The physically demanding work manual therapists do puts them at risk for musculoskeletal injury. But injury is not inevitable! In Save Your Hands!, we offer research-based strategies and tips that have been proven to prevent injury. Manual therapists invest a great deal of time and money building their careers – our goal is to educate and train these professionals to help them protect and prolong their careers.”

SaveYour Hands! is now much more than a textbook. The company offers online home study courses, live workshops and a new Certified Injury Prevention Instructor Program (CIPI) for therapists that wish to enhance their career and earn extra income by teaching injury prevention to other manual therapists.

For employers of manual therapists (spas, clinics, etc.), Save Your Hands! offers ergonomics consulting and training services to lower injury risk and reduce workers’ compensation claims, absenteeism and turnover while increasing productivity and improving morale.
