Seminar on Evidence Informed Management of Low Back Pain
Aug. 17, Toronto, Ont. – The Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy invites RMTs to a continuing education seminar titled Evidence-Informed Management of Low Back Pain to be held on September 22 and 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
August 20, 2012 By Massage Therapy Canada
The 80
per cent incidence of low back pain in North America is a staggering statistic
and is something health care practitioners are faced with treating
everyday. The goal of this two-day, 12-hour course is to give
participants a solid theoretical and practical foundation for treating patients
with low back pain and associated disorders.
After
taking this course, massage therapists/students will be able to provide
evidence-informed, professional, and knowledgeable care for their low back pain
clients.
Participants will learn about:
- the multi-dimensional and
multifaceted structures forming the functional low back; - theory and practical
techniques for providing evidence-informed therapy, and self-care
strategies for low back pain patients; - developing effective
treatment strategies relevant to the client’s goals, signs and symptoms,
functional abilities, and medical condition; - creating a plan of management
which emphasizes prophylactic training, as well as prevention of pain re-occurrence; - general knowledge of
unnecessarily prescribed pain medication for conditions treated with
massage therapy.
This
course is accredited for six CEUs by the College of Massage Therapists of
Ontario. It will be held on the
Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy Campus at 31 Scarsdale Rd, Toronto.
