Greetings. My name is Susan Ramsey and I am an accredited professional massage practitioner, reflexologist, and the owner of Mia Natural Therapies.
I have two clinics in South Australia. One clinic is at seaside Semapore in Adelaide and the other is located in beautiful Streaky Bay on the West Coast of South Australia.

There are 713 kilometres between the two clinics and I travel between the two. Distance is not a  problem in Australia – it’s a large country and we are used to travelling. Deciding on which clothing is required is the challenge! The journey is always an adventure, and that is living. Prior to having my current clinic,
I had a busy practice in the Mid North of the State for 13 years, having to leave due to my husband becoming palliative with cancer.

I have taught Natural Therapies for 13 years, both privately and at Colleges and lecture locally, nationally and at the international level. Some of the countries I have visited include, Brunei, Singapore and Sweden. One experience I have taken from all of this, is the privilege of greeting the King and Queen of Sweden, on their official visit to Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia in 2005, last year.

As a very active Vice Chairperson of the SA branch of The Reflexology Association of Australia, I have been keenly involved in the organization of the National Conference“Adelaide Festival of Feet” to be held in October 2006.

My mission in life is to improve and maintain. My passion is simply to help people. Back pain is one common health issue for my active clientele. They come from many walks of life – athletics, WorkCare, (a rehabilitative insurance fund for injured workers), third party comprehensive claims, seniors, children and palliative care. Each individual is unique and receives quality time especially during their first appointment. Their assessment is followed by a personal program, treatment, goal settings and feedback.

Each client is seeking to live in healthier ways with more positive life-giving outcomes. My clients are seeking balance, regardless of age or gender.

They are often amazed when I demonstrate the old Chinese rule ‘One end out – the other End out!’ When I fine tune this by finding the referral points for their pain, they are even more convinced of the effectiveness of my methods.

I educate my clients to understand why and how the disease or imbalance has occurred, including relative anatomy and physiology. I find that I need to be particularly observant of a client’s posture, repeater body movement, nutrition and emotions.

All are a part of the big picture. Recently, I produced a Power Point presentation entitled “Undo the Voodoo’s” which explains natural therapies and the benefits for all people. Several groups invited me to present it, including Aged and Community Services, The Reflexology Association of Australia and The Australian Traditional Medicine Association. Government even got interested when local Member of Parliament, Liz Penfold, whom I met with at Parliament House in Adelaide, saw the presentation. We discussed the benefits of Remedial Therapists for age care residents and seniors in our communities. Liz can see the positive outcomes and said we must promote ourselves as professionals and accredited practitioners.

I wish all practitioners the best, follow your dream. I’m here to live, learn, serve and enjoy.
