Massage Therapy students can apply for scholarship program

Feb. 12, Evanston, IL – At the recent AMTA Schools Summit, the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) announced its new AMTA Student Scholarship program as an exciting new initiative to support the next generation of massage therapists.  This program invites students to participate in an essay contest where one applicant will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship.

The
association encourages students to complete the online application
by May 31 for the chance to receive the scholarship. This scholarship
challenges massage school students to strive for excellence in their study of
massage therapy and be rewarded for their devotion to the profession. 


To
apply, the student must be admitted to or enrolled in a minimum 500-hour
entry-level massage therapy program at the time of application.  They need
to submit a 500-word essay on why they have chosen to become a massage
therapist; their plans for their massage therapy career; and how they plan to
advance their career, while giving back to the profession. The recipient of the
scholarship will be announced in September and they will be recognized at their
massage therapy school.  And, the recipient will be acknowledged during
the awards portion of the opening session of AMTA’s National Convention in Ft.
Worth, Texas, September 26.


The
American Massage Therapy Association is the largest non-profit, professional
association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage
schools.  The association is directed by volunteer leadership and fosters
ongoing, direct member-involvement through its 51 chapters.  AMTA works to
advance the profession through ethics and standards, the promotion of fair and
consistent licensing of massage therapists in all states, and public education
on the benefits of massage.
