The award
– part of which was a cheque, sponsored by Performance Health, for $1000 to be
given to the charity of the winner’s choice –  was given to Catlin at the American Massage Conference in
San Diego, California.

“That
decision was a no-brainer for me,” notes Catlin, “This
group has done so much to help our profession gain credibility through
research, while enabling therapists to reach out to underserved people by
funding Community
Service Grants
.”

Catlin’s work with Compassionate Touch involves teaching massage
therapists about treating patients in nursing homes and hospice and finds that
the MTC’s own work in the area of community service resonates with her
professional mission and vision.
