WorkSafeBC seeks public input on proposed policy on plantar fasciitis
Oct. 10, 2014 – WorkSafeBC is asking for stakeholder review and comment on the possible creation of policy on plantar fasciitis.
The Occupational Disease Recognition Regulation of the Workers Compensation Act recognizes plantar fasciitis as an occupational disease, with no presumption in favour of work causation. There is currently no policy direction on plantar fasciitis or the recognition of any risk factors.

At issue is a review of the medical and scientific literature to
determine whether policy on plantar fasciitis should be created.
its meeting on March 19, 2014, WorkSafeBC’s board of directors approved
the release of the systematic review of the medical and scientific
literature for stakeholder review and comment.
There are a number of ways for stakeholders to provide feedback on the proposed policy options:

longer be possible. To ensure complete and detailed comments are
provided, WorkSafeBC suggests drafting the comment in a word processing
format and cutting and pasting them into the submission form.

consultation period will end on Nov. 14, 2014. The board of directors
will consider stakeholder feedback before making a decision on policy
amendments, WorkSafeBC said.
All comments submitted become part
of the Policy, Regulation and Research Division’s database and may be
published, including the identity of organizations and those
participating on behalf of organizations. The identity of those who have
participated on their own behalf will be kept confidential according to
the provisions of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy
