From the editor: Summer 2009

This issue of Massage Therapy Canada marks the first under new ownership. Annex Publishing & Printing is picking up where MT Publishing left off. Yet not all has changed. I will remain as editor, continuing doing what I enjoy most: communicating with massage therapists coast to coast and advocating for our national voice.

Annex Publishing & Printing publishes many industry-specific magazines, including Canadian Chiropractor. They are a wonderful group of professionals and I am pleased to be working with their team. They also share my commitment to this profession, starting with a platinum sponsorship role in the upcoming Ontario Massage Trade Conference. For more information see our conference guide starting on page 25.

In fact I look forward to the many new opportunities that being part of a larger team will bring. That starts with our soon-to-be-redesigned web site. It will include a host of features I hope readers will enjoy, from regularly updated news from the world of massage therapy to industry events, our on-line digital edition, web exclusives and even video. It will be up and running this fall.

In the meantime, please enjoy this first “new” issue. It includes:

• The first in a series on the “State of the Industry” researched and written by Don Dillon RMT. Don looks at challenges, opportunities and misperceptions facing massage therapists.

• Practical information on selling your practice in an article also by Don Dillon. We had previously published the first section over a year ago, so to give your memory a break we have re-run that first part together with the conclusion. If you’re considering retirement in the coming months or even years, it’s a timely instalment.

• Tips to deal with the stress and mess of board exams from Jules Torti, an RMT in British Columbia. 

In short, a new team but the same timely editorial package. As always, we look to you our readers for ongoing feedback, submissions, and topic suggestions. See you at the OMTC!
