The project is a collaboration between the Massage Therapy Foundation, Samueli Institute and the American Massage Therapy Association, and was published as a three-part series in a peer reviewed journal and discussed at last year’s International Massage Therapy Research Conference in Seattle, according to the Massage Therapy Foundation (MTF).

The report is “state-of-the-art” database containing current evidence that explore the effects of massage therapy on function for people with pain. The database includes data from 99 randomized controlled trials included in the systematic review and meta-analyses.

The review investigated the impact of massage therapy on function in three types of pain population: those who would typically visit their general health-care practitioners complaining of pain; patients undergoing or recovering from surgical procedures; and cancer patients, the MTF said.

The published database allows users to search, sort and filter information based on interest. The database is published on the MTF website.
